I would venture to say that nearly everyone looks forward to Spring Break. It’s just engrained in us since childhood. When we were little and in school, knowing that we had a week off from school was wonderful! It’s a sign that hopefully warmer weather and outdoor activities are right around the corner.
And now as a teacher, it’s also a great time to add a few extra classes to your Outschool schedule!
As a brick and mortar teacher, I had been looking forward to Spring Break ever since I started the semester after maternity leave. There were three major reasons: One, I wanted to have more time with my son. Two, I knew I would need to use his nap times to grade all the papers and projects that had built up from 3rd quarter. And Three, I knew that since other children were off on Spring Break, this would be the perfect time to add a few extra classes to my Outschool schedule. After all, kids have all this free time, and parents are looking for something for their children to do. It’s a win win for everyone!
Right now my regular schedule only offers after school classes, but since I have morning availability this week, I thought, why not try a couple of morning time slots. And guess what, they filled!
I chose my bestselling One Time class and offered it mid morning. (A one time class is a great way to dip your toe into something new, because it is a short commitment. Whether it be a new class, new age range or a new time frame.) The age range for this class is 4-7, so not only would this timeframe catch those spring breakers, but it also could catch preschool children that were naturally home anyway. By catching both groups, I begin to expand my pool of potential students. I have just introduced myself to a group of parents and children that might have otherwise not known me. Now they can find my afterschool or weekend classes, which when they begin school next year, is what they would need anyway.
Taking advantage of this extra time allows me to generate new learners and a little extra income. Next up – summer!
